Safety of occupants is of primary importance. The engineers at NANOCAR impose strict rules when designing our vehicles, using elaborated techniques, high tech materials and equipment from automobile suppliers. Innovative solutions improve the quality of both active and passive safety measures. Our licence-free vehicles are submitted to crash tests.

The design of licence-free vehicles guarantees a much higher level of safety than that of a two-wheeled vehicle. The chassis and bodywork form a protective shell which absorbs shocks and protects the occupants.

ACTIVE SAFETY MEASURES

It is the combination of innovation and equipment that helps avoid accidents:

• Powerful defrosting system for perfect visibility
• Wide windscreen to enlarge the field of vision
• LED daytime running lights, Halogen headlamps, 3rd brake light, hazard lights triggered when emergency breaking
• Equipment to help be easily seen by others in all conditions
• Lowered center of gravity and wider track

PASSIVE SAFETY MEASURES

All of the technologies used within the vehicle maximise preservation and protection of the occupants during a potential impact.

SUCCESSFUL CRASH-TESTS:

The NANOCAR licence-free car conforms to the latest applicable norms and standards in the European Union.

Analysis of these successful tests assists the safety developments.

HOW IS A CRASH TEST DEEMED SUCCESSFUL?

• Passenger compartment intact with no notable deformation: no intrusion, no injuries, not stuck in the vehicle
• The windows are not broken: no cuts, no injuries.
• The seat belts are designed not to jam: no discomfort, no panic when exiting the vehicle.
• The doors do not open during an accident: no ejection.
• The door handles work correctly: the doors open easily when exiting the vehicle.

In 2011 there were 85,214 victims (mortalities + injuries) of road accidents in metropolitan France.

Only 356 or 0.41% of the victims were users of licence-free cars.

Out of 3,963 mortalities, 2,062 (52%) are attributed to automobiles, 760 (19%) to motorcycles and 220 (6%) to mopeds.

There were however 26 or 0.66% mortalities in licence-free cars of which 5 were passengers. (Source ONISR)
